REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The Ministry of Communication and Informatics (Kominfo) has identified 62 hoax contents related to legislative elections and presidential and vice presidential elections spread on the internet and social media.
In a written statement received in Jakarta on Wednesday, the Ministry of Communication and Informatics included search results using the AIS engine by the Sub-Directorate of Internet Content Control Directorate of Directorate General of Information Technology Control.
The machine identified the highest number of hoax content found in December 2108, which was a total of 18 hoax contents.
One of the hoax in December 2018 is the hoax of simulations of crazy people brought to TPU. One post had been circulated from the Moeslim Niaga account, stating that the post was a simulation of crazy people brought to polling stations during the election.
The Ministry of Communication and Informatics explained that the photo was an incident in Bali, when a crazy person killed a shaman who was treating himself and the photo was taken when secured by the officer.
The search results also show that in August 2018, there were 11 hoax contents found. In September 2018, there were 8 contents. In October 2018, there were 12 contents, and in November 2018, as many as 13 hoax contents were recorded.
For information, all this time, the Ministry of Communication and Informatics has released information regarding clarification and content indicated through the portal kominfo.go.id and stophoax.id. The Ministry also invited all people to check and filter any information that cannot be justified before disseminating them.
