REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Vice President Jusuf Kalla (JK) assessed that the presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto statement on the leakage of State Budget (APBN) that reached 25 percent was an exaggerate claim. JK said, the leakage had indeed happened as there were many government officials caught and involved in corruption cases.
"But, the number is not that excessive (25 percent)," said Vice President at the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) Headquarters in Jakarta, on Friday (Feb 8) .
He assessed that corruption was common in every country, including in developing countries, such as Indonesia, which was intensively carrying out infrastructure development. According to JK, budget allocated for development was the most prone to corruption.
"It's not true that all of that reached 25 percentThe corruption is only on the development budget, not budget for salaries or subsidies," explained JK.
Previously, Prabowo mentioned that the state budget were leaking up to 25 percent or equivalent to Rp 500 trillion. Prabowo had suspicion that the leak was caused by the mark up practices on a number of development projects in the country.
