REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Presidential candidate number 01 Joko Widodo said he would reduce fossil fuel consumption by encouraging the use of more environmental friendly fuel. The incumbent president commonly known as Jokowi said that during the second round of presidential debate held at The Sultan Hotel, Jakarta, on Sunday.
During the first segment where each candidate presented their vision and mission, Jokowi said that his administration has been promoting the use of biofuel and green fuel. The government has begun production of B20, a blend of 20 percent of biofuel with diesel, and it would be proceeded with the production of B100 which contains 100 percent of biofuel.
"So (our) dependence on fossil fuel can be reduced from year to year," Jokowi noted.
Indonesia, which is one of the world's largest producers of palm oil, issued a regulation on the mandatory use of B20 fuels that took effect in September 2018. Biodiesel is already used in transportation, industrial and mining sectors.
