REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Vice presidential candidate Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno expressed satisfaction over Prabowo Subianto's performance in the second round of Indonesia's presidential debate held at Sultan Hotel here on Sunday evening. Prabowo got so deeply involved in the substantial debate on crucial issues of energy, food, environment, natural resources, and infrastructure with incumbent President Joko Widodo (Jokowi), he informed journalists here on Monday.

"Mr Prabowo has successfully delivered the Prabowo-Sandi pair's partiality to the interests of our people related to affordable and stable food prices, cheaper electricity prices, and creation of more new jobs," he remarked at the pair's media center here.

According to this businessman-turned-politician, the Prabowo-Sandi pair pledged that the new jobs created if they were to win the presidential elections, scheduled on April 17, 2019, would be offered to the Indonesian people.

"Mr Prabowo has clearly emphasized that those available new jobs will not be given to foreign workers," Sandiaga noted, adding that Prabowo had also stressed that the country's sources of production would be wholly directed to cater to the people's interests.

Sandiaga further praised Prabowo's body language that remained positive despite Jokowi's attempt to corner him with what several community members perceived as a personal attack on him.

"Finally, I saw Mr Prabowo smile a lot. This is very positive," he noted.

"Call as a personal attack," he stated.

In the second debate, Prabowo obviously highlighted his commitment to fighting for the prosperity of Indonesian farmers, achieving food-self sufficiency, and avoiding food imports for the benefit of local farmers.

During their open debate, the two presidential candidates bitterly debated on the issues that had been determined by the General Elections Commission (KPU) and attempted to showcase their best performance.
