REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Vice president candidate 01 Ma’ruf Amin said all parties should be more mature in democracy. His statement came to respond people power discourse.
According to Ma’ruf, all electoral disputes must be solved through law. He stressed that lose and win in election is normal.
“Lose and win is normal. So, if we lose, don’t use people power,” said Ma’ruf on Monday.
Ma’ruf said all parties must respond wisely the result of 2019 presidential election. The Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) chairman then urged people to prioritize the integrity of the country.
He expected after 2019 presidential election announcement by General Election Commission (KPU) on May 22, all people can give full supports to the winner. Ma’ruf said people should not stain the integrity of the nation related to this announcement.
“Don't we stain in ways that can damage the integrity of the nation," Ma’ruf added.
Previously, National Mandate Party (PAN) Honorary Council chairman Amien Rais asked the mobilisation of people power, if there was fraud in the election. This statement came due to distrust of KPU as institution which calculate the election result.
National Winning Agency (BPN) of Prabowo Subianto-Sandiaga Uno pair success team spokesperson, Andre Rosiade said his party never planned people power. He stressed BPN always takes steps in accordance with the constitution in the election process.
