REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- If you are asked to give some superhero names, your answer might be Batman, Superman and Spiderman. Hollywood has successfully introduced these characters, either for kids and adults. But soon, Garuda Superhero would join them. The Indonesian superhero would come in an animation film by Putaar production house.
"The story was presented to me in 2011. I realize that Indonesia has not have a superhero character after Gundala, but it was not familiar with Computer Generated Imagery (CGI) concept. Now, we are going to use this technology," Film Producer, Dhoni Ramadhan said recently.
Ramadhan who previously produced movie series, like 'Kun Fayakuun,' 'Pengejar Angin,' 'Gending Sriwijaya,' 'King of Rock City' and 'Tak Sempurna' said that kids today just amazed Batman and Superman. That is a challenge for Indonesia, so that film industry in the country must create a superhero.
He is optimistic that his ideas in presenting Indonesian superhero character can be successful to produce same quality with Hollywood. He sees that many Indonesian young film producers are involved in making of Hollywood animation film. So, he entrusted this project to local human resources. Ramadhan appointed X-Jo as director as he really knew about CGI techniques.
Ramadhan really thought about quality of the work on film. He will show us the best teaser after perfects it in Bangkok, Thailand. Garuda Superhero is scheduled to begin filming early next year and will be premiered in June 2013.
