REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, TOMOHON -- Foreign and domestic fans of biking are set to liven up the "Tour de Tomohon" event in the Indonesian province of North Sulawesi on Saturday, according to Mayor of Tomohon Jimmy F. Eman.
"Tour de Tomohon is the first ever international event to be held in Tomohon city in cooperation with national flag carrier Garuda Indonesia," Eman said here on Thursday (16/4).
He has urged all parties to support the event, which will be covered by national and international media and will be broadcast all over the world.
"Together, let us support this international event and make it a great success, as it will have a positive impact on the economy and the progress of Tomohon city," he remarked.
According to Eman, Tour de Tomohon is also expected to have twice the impact on the tourism and sports sectors, as well as on the economy of Tomohon, in particular, and that of North Sulawesi, in general.
The mayor added that the event will also make this city with a population of 101 thousand people known across the world.
This fun biking event will involve traveling a distance of 20 kilometers and crossing a few tourist attractions in Tomohon.
Furthermore, Marketing Sales Executive of Garuda Indonesia's North Sulawesi branch Marco David Rambing stated that the organizing committee of Tour de Tomohon was finalizing the preparations for this weekend international event.
"Preparations are ripe for the event; we have coordinated with relevant institutions such as the police, the transportation agency, and medical teams," Rambing affirmed.
He noted that performances of traditional dances of North Sulawesi, traditional music of Kolintang, and culinary shows will also be put up to enliven the occasion.
