20 warships join sailing pass during Sail Tomini

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SURABAYA -- Some 20 warships from the Eastern Fleet Command of the Indonesian Navy, have joined a sailing pass organized during international maritime event Sail Tomini 2015 on Pangi Beach, Parigi Moutong District, Central Sulawesi, since Saturday.

Warships from the Eastern Fleet Command (Koarmatim) have dominated the event, Lt Col Maman Sulaeman, spokesman of the Koarmatim, said in a statement, Sunday.

Commander of the Battle Force of the Eastern Fleet Command First Admiral ING Ariawan, in his capacity as the commander of the Sail Tomini task force, said the sailing pass was also participated in by warships from the Western Fleet Command (Koarmabar).

"Koarmatim has sent 20 warships, and Koarmabar six warship," he stated.

Foreign warships participating in the sailing pass include RSN Endeavour from Singapore, HMAS Wolongong from Australia, KD Sri Indera Sakti and KD Baung from Malaysia, Yunchen 571 from China, and Jeonbuk 813 from South Korea.

Some 100 traditional boats, 18 fishing boats, 25 patrol boats, and 51 yachts have also taken part in the event.

President Joko Widodo officiated the peak ceremony of Sail Tomini 2015 in Parigi Moutong, on Saturday.
