REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, MANADO -- As many as 14 countries ensure attendance and participate in international events, Manado Fiesta 2018 in North Sulawesi. The event will be held on August 31 to September 9 2018.

"These 14 countries are Romania, Pakistan, India, Vietnam, the Philippines, Lithuania, South Africa, China, South Korea, the United States, Finland, Italy, Japan, Singapore," said the Head of Manado Tourism Office, Lenda Pelelalu, here on Sunday.

He said, these countries will participate in two international events from Manado Fiesta 2018, namely international paragliding championships and international choirs. In addition to the 14 countries, said Lenda, Indonesia as the host will participate in by sending many participants, to enliven the event to be held in Manado.

According to Lenda, the implementation of Manado Fiesta, is expected to bring in many tourists, both foreign and domestic. It could also serve as a place to promote tourism in Indonesia and North Sulawesi and Manado in particular.

Lenda believed later on when the participants from foreign countries come, they will also be ambassadors of their respective countries in Manado. They could help to promote this area.

"Those who come and enjoy the atmosphere of Manado that is comfortable and safe can convey to the people in their country, how good, friendly and beautiful Manado is, so that they are directly promoted it," he said.

Therefore, he invited all Manado residents to jointly maintain order and security and show hospitality to the participants who were guests in Manado, thus leaving a good impression on them.

This, he said, would be a pulling factor, or an amenability to participants to return as tourists to Manado and North Sulawesi in general. He hopes that later the implementation of Manado Fiesta 2018, will be an event to promote Manado and North Sulawesi, in general it is increasingly known in the eyes of the world.

Nearly 84 percent of the foreign tourists visiting North Sulawesi in December 2017 were Chinese nationals. The number of Chinese tourists reached 7,208 people. "It is equals to 83.94 percent of the total foreign tourist arrivals at the Sam Ratulangi International Airport in Manado," Moh Edy Mahmud, head of the North Sulawesi statistics office, stated here, on February 2.

The number of Chinese tourists had increased significantly owing to chartered flights serving the Manado-China route since the last two years.
