REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The elected president, Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo said that Prabowo Subianto and himself were best friends. Hence, there should no be a reconciliation between Jokowi and his political rival.
"Me and Mr Prabowo are good friends. Nothing bad happen with us," Jokowi said on Thursday in Jakarta as reported by Halimatus Sa'diyah.
The tension that occured during 2014 presidential election has been completed. After that, both supporters come back in peace. After the Constitutional Court's annoucement, Jokowi plans to meet Prabowo.
"We are friends, so we have to meet," Jokowi said.
Jokowi and Prabowo are two presidential candidates competing in 2014 election. Both Jokowi and Prabowo have never met directly and expressed their reconciliation.
About 50,000 police and military personnel have been deployed for Thursday's decision amid concerns Prabowo's supporters will resort to violence. Constitutional Court reminded all parties to respect its verdict in 2014 presidential election dispute.
