Mount Raung ashes cover Ngurah Rai Airport

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, DENPASAR -- Ngurah Rai International Airport, Bali, was re-closed due to the volcanic ashes of Mount Raung. The ashes interfered the flight from the airport.

“The airport was closed on the recommendation of BMKG,” said Co-General Manager of PT Angkasa Pura I Ngurah Rai International Airport, I Gusti Ngurah Ardita, in Kuta, Badung, Saturday (8/8).

The Ministry of Transportation also issued a "Notice to Airmen" in number A1661 / 15 to all flight personnel in the world related to the closure of the airport operations. Flight activities began to shut down in 06.30 pm until 12.00 pm or when the Ngurah Rai area was safe for flight.

The open and close system of the airport certainly will interfere dozens of domestic flight schedules. Thousands of passengers also failed to set off to a number of international destinations.

Most of them opted to stay at the airport while waiting for the certainty of departures from the airlines. However, the passengers understand that the closure of the airport was emergencies.
