REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Head of the Public Information Bureau Brig Rikwanto stated, the book entitled Jokowi Undercover is not accountable. It does not meet the academic standards of book production.

Currently, the author, Bambang Tri Mulyono, has been detained at Metro Jaya Police Office. "He just took away random sources from social media. The information and notes were collected without surveys and confirmation. So, he made his own analysis, he matched, and decided things by his himself," he said in Jakarta on Tuesday.

For example, the book mentioned about the proximity of Michael Bimo Putranto with the Indonesian President Joko Widodo. According to Rikwanto, it quotes a lie.

Bambang was accused for violating the Law on Information and Electronic Transactions (UU ITE) number 19 in 2016 which is a revision of the law number 11 of 2008. He was snared with at least six years of imprisonment.

He was charged by the Article 45a paragraph 2 in conjunction with Article 28 Sub 2 of Law No. 11 of 2008. This chapter deals with the spread of lies and hatred against ethnic or groups.

The investigators also linked the case with article 4 letter d in conjunction with Article 16 of Law Number 40 of 2008 on the elimination of racial and ethnic discrimination. The book, said Rikwanto, is very biased to a particular race and ethnicity. There is an element of hatred sown to a certain race and ethnic by the book. Bambang was also charged by article 27 of the Criminal Code. He was allegedly to intentionally insult the President.

The police were doing a deeper investigation related to the case. He stated that the promotion of the book was conducted online. The police were tracking the buyers of the book, the printing site, and the extent of the circulation of the book.

"He printed the book by himself and shared it to the Internet. We're keeping track of where the printing was conducted. Then he promoted the book on the Internet. We would also investigate how many subscribers already," he said.
