REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Minister of Commerce, Zulkifli Hasan, said the government decided to restore the import control of goods from post-border to border to tighten the flow of goods entering Indonesia. The post border system is an oversight outside the customs area and has been circulated in communities supervised by relevant ministries/agencies.

Meanwhile, the border system is an oversight by officers of the Directorate General of Customs and Excise in the customs area before goods circulate to the community. Zulkifli said that the return of surveillance to the border was the government's commitment to support domestic industries, including the fashion industry.

Therefore, imports of imported goods need to be carefully monitored by restoring post-border to border surveillance for a number of products. “Post-border is returned to the border so that surveillance is stricter,” Zulkifli, also known as Zulhas, said in a written statement on Tuesday (24/10/2023).

He is optimistic that the country's fashion industry can enter the global fashion world. Moreover, Indonesia has a Muslim fashion industry that is being taken seriously by the government along with fashion activists in the country.

“To build a competitive Indonesian fashion sector, collaboration is of course the key. The government is here to synergize with stakeholders in the fashion sector in making Indonesia the mecca of world fashion,” he said.

In addition, Zulhas added, currently online buying and selling activities are unavoidable. For this reason, the government establishes an e-commerce or e-commerce platform with social commerce so that each can support each other, including supporting businesses in the country.

Furthermore, one of the government's support to domestic businesses is through the largest trade fair in Indonesia, namely 38th Trade Expo Indonesia (TEI), whose physical exhibition was closed only on Sunday (22/10/2023).

He pointed out TEI's role in supporting the marketing of domestic products to international markets. This is evident from the total potential transaction of the 38th TEI physical exhibition which is 25.3 billion US dollars or has exceeded the 11 billion US dollar target.

On the occasion of TEI, there is the exhibition Jakarta Muslim Fashion Week (JMFW) 202. The result of JMFW 2024 is a potential transaction that reaches 20.1 million US dollars or about Rp 300 billion.

“This signifies Indonesia's success in showing the modest quality of Indonesian Muslim fashion and fashion in the eyes of the world,” he said.
