REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The Ministry of Religious Affairs will hold the Asian African Religious Moderation Conference (KMBAA) in Bandung, West Java, on December 11-13, 2023. It will serve a purpose as a forum for the world's religious leaders to exchange ideas about the practice of living together in harmony and diversity.
The event was concluded with a roadshow of public discussion exposing religious moderation innovation with the theme of "Building Harmony Through the so-called Moderation Village and the Religious Moderation House" in Surabaya on Tuesday.
“The moderation innovation program aims for the good practices of society, and educational institutions,” said the head of the ministry's R&D, Education, and Training Agency (Balitbang Kemenag), Amien Suyitno, in a statement in Jakarta.
Suyitno hopes that the KMBAA will be able to import and export good practices of religious moderation in the Asian and African continent.
“It can contribute as well as provide solutions and views to all of us about the importance of living in harmony, even though we all differ in terms of cultural background, religion and so on,” Suyitno said.
Meanwhile, Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Nizar Ali appreciated the steps of Balitbang Kemenag who has organized various innovations in terms of Strengthening Religious Moderation (PMB). “Moderation of religion in villages and places of worship is an option to create harmony among religious people,” Nizar said.
According to Nizar, the programs could be role models ahead of the current political year. Because, in the 2024 a political year, people are very vulnerable to friction, simply because of the difference in political choices.
“Because in the villages of religious moderation, the life of religious people is ensured harmonious and peaceful,” he said.
