REPUBLICA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Mishr Al-Kheir Government Communications Director, Dr Tariq Hasan Muhammad said that Indonesian humanitarian assistance through the National Amil Zakat Agency (Baznas) RI means a lot to the Palestinian community. The Palestinian community has welcomed the assistance provided by Indonesia.

May God always preserve our good relations with Palestine. The assistance provided is a form of mutual assistance to help Indonesians to the situation of those in need. May the wars and tragedies that befall Palestine come to an end soon,” Tariq said in Egypt on Tuesday (5/12/2023).

Tariq also expressed his pleasure that for the first time he was able to cooperate with Baznas Indonesia and other philanthropic institutions originating from Indonesia. “The aid that has been delivered today is the first phase of Baznas RI's cooperation with Mishr Al-Kheir, and there will be more aid delivery in the next phase,” he said in a press release.

Tariq further said that the form of cooperation between Mishr Al Kheir and Baznas RI in Palestinian aid, a very priority at the moment is the distribution of aid to Palestinians in the form of food, health and emergency items.

Tariq said that the delivery of aid from Mishr Al-Kheir along with other philanthropic agencies has started since October 18, 2023. As for the relief goods that have already reached the hands of the Palestinian community about 2,000 tons.

“We express our gratitude to the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Egypt, Baznas Indonesia, other philanthropic institutions, and generally to the Indonesian people,” he said.

For further cooperation, Tariq said, Mishr Al-Kheir and Baznas RI will design cooperation on the construction of schools, hospitals, residences, and places of worship for the Palestinian community.

Meanwhile, Baznas RI Head of Collection Rizaludin Kurniawan said that Baznas aims to cooperate with philanthropic institutions in Egypt, one of which Mishr Al Kheir is to facilitate the distribution of aid to the Palestinian community. Rizaludin also appreciates Mishr Al Kheir who has worked with Baznas professionally, accountable in channeling aid for Palestine.

“In addition, Baznas also continues to facilitate Indonesians who want to provide Palestinian humanitarian income. We also appeal to the Indonesian people to help mainly in the form of money, this in order to facilitate the adjustment of the needs of the Palestinian people and is intended so that the aid can be spent in Egypt,” he said.

Rizaludin said that the aid that Baznas RI sends to Palestine comes from the Indonesian community consisting of Baznas Province/City/Regency, LAZ, UPZ, Indonesian Ulama Assembly, community organizations, communities, corporate partners, digital platform partners, humanitarian institutions, professional organizations, campuses, schools, and other communities.
