REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- PBNU Chairman Fahrurrozi (Gus Fahrur) called on the government to support and pray for South Africa's move, which is trying to drag on Israel to the International Court of Justice.
“We (Indonesia) should support and pray for (South Africa's move),” Gus Fahrur said when contacted by Republika on Monday (15/1/2024).
In late December 2023, South Africa dragged Israel in an international legal dispute through the International Court of Justice or the International Court of Justice. These charges refer to alleged acts of genocide in violation of the 1948 Genocide Convention.
What South Africa is demanding is that the International Court of Justice establish Provisional Measures to temporarily halt Israel's' alleged 'acts of genocide through a short trial. Before a full trial was held.
Looking at South Africa's move, Gus Fahrur assessed the country's genuine humanitarian attitude.
“We know that Afsel had experiences and trauma to the aphartheid politics of white rulers, which may evoke a deep sense of humanity over the tragedy of Israel's massacre in Palestine,” he said.
He also hoped that the outcome South Africa brought before the International Court of Justice could yield positive results and could impose firm sanctions on Israel and its supporters. And most importantly, says Gus Fahrur, the efforts at the International Court of Justice can immediately stop the assault and genocide against innocent Palestinians.
Gus Fahrur also hopes that other countries can take a beating and jointly support all efforts to end Israel's colonization of Palestine. Because, says Gus Fahrur, serious humanitarian crimes committed in Palestine must be stopped immediately.
