REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir stressed the importance of innovation in creating a sustainable tourism ecosystem. It aims to increase Indonesia's economic growth through tourism, one of them by presenting the Special Economic Area (KEK) of Sanur, Bali.
“With the presence of KEK Sanur, it is expected to become the locomotive of the economy accelerator in Indonesia,” Erick said at the inauguration of Bali Beach Convention and groundbreaking Alster Lake Center at KEK Sanur convention area, Bali, Tuesday (30/1/2024).
Erick said that the KEK, which consists of a 3,750 square meter convention center and Alster Lake Clinic with breakthrough medical technology, includes only economic infrastructure, but also sustainability and innovation in the development of the health tourism ecosystem.
Erick considers KEK Sanur to be a model for KEK development in other regions in creating an integrated health tourism ecosystem so that it can become a magnet for domestic and foreign tourists. According to Erick, KEK Sanur is a milestone and milestone for international sustainable tourism destinations that can promote the revival of the tourism ecosystem and economy in Indonesia.
“KEK Sanur will bring the best medical and wellness technology in Indonesia. Most importantly, it is targeted to be able to absorb about 43 thousand workers,” Erick said.
InJourney Managing Director Dony Oskaria said the development of this convention restores the original vision of Sanur as a tourist destination center for Meeting, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions (MICE), which is also one of the largest convention centers in Bali. Dony said that the KEK Sanur convention center has a capacity of up to 5,000 people with a beautiful view due to the direct view of the beach area.
“In 2045, the target for saving potential foreign exchange will reach Rp 86 trillion and foreign exchange growth up to Rp 19.6 trillion in the same period,” Dony said.
Dony said that SANUR KEK was established through Government Regulation No. 41 of 2022 as a strategic initiative to exploit the region's potential as a health tourism destination by making Bali a landmark in improving and diversifying the Indonesian economy.
“This is a manifestation of SOE's commitment to creating innovations for a better tourism ecosystem,” Dony said.
