REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, KENDARI -- The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Kendari City, Southeast Sulawesi Province (Sultra), mentioned 2,198 residential units affected by natural disasters in Kendari City, on Wednesday (6/2/2024). The head of the Kendari City BPBD Fadlil Suparman said that based on provisional data held by the Kendari City BPBD, the homes of the affected residents are located in 10 districts namely Kendari, Kendari West, Mandonga, Puuwatu, Kadia, Wuawua, Baruga, Poasia, Abeli, and Nambo.
He mentioned that in West Kendari District there are 563 houses, then in West Kendari District there are 561 houses, Mandonga District 230 houses, Puuwatu District 31 houses, Kadia District 129 houses, Wuawua District 566 houses, and Baruga Subdistrict 58 houses. “Then in Poasia District 13 houses, Abeli District 20 houses, and Nambo District 27 houses,” he said on Friday (8/3/2024).
In addition to residents' homes, there are also several public facilities affected by the disaster, including Lurah Mata, Kendari District, one school, and one hospital in Sodohoa Village, West Kendari District, Kendari City. Fadlil revealed, in addition to the flood disaster, some areas in Kendari City also had landslide disasters that occurred in Kendari and West Kendari districts.
“The same goes for fallen trees to occur in some areas as a result of such extreme weather,” he said.
He added that the data is provisional data held by the Kendari government. It is not excluded that the number of houses or heads of families that are victims of natural disasters will increase.
“We have not validated that number anymore, because in some regions it is written a lot, it turns out that in the field it turned out to be a lot,” said Fadlil Suparman.
