REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, NAYPYITAW -- Indonesian U-23 national team managed to reach the final of the SEA Games in 2013 after conquering the mortal enemy of Malaysia with penalties 4-3 (1-1) in Thuwunna Stadium, Thursday (19/12) evening. The match had to go through penalties after a 1-1 score lasted until the completion of normal time and extra time 2x15 minute.
Rahmat Darmawan's squad, who experienced a grudge defeat in the final of the SEA Games 2011, played tactically from the first minute.
First goal came from Bayu's penetration outside the Malaysian penalty box. He then beat goalkeeper Malaysia 1-0.
But Rahmat Darmawan squad failed to maintain the advantage. Malaysia managed to equalize in the 85th minute. Goal scored by striker. Score ended 1-1 in normal time.
In the two extra times, Indonesia turns to dominate the game. However, up to 2x15 minutes they failed to score on Malaysian net. The match was to be continued on penalties.
In the penalty, Kurnia Meiga appeared as a hero after thwarting two Malaysian players kick. While Indonesian player, Manahati Lestusen, also failed to do the penalty. Indonesia's victory determined by last kicker, as substtude, John Pahabol.
In the final round, Indonesia will play the winner of the match between Thailand against Singapore.
