REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir said the presence of the Indonesian Islamic Financial Center (IIFC) Region was a breakthrough in the era of the leadership of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi). Erick said SOEs from the start were committed to supporting the acceleration of development over the past ten years.
“It doesn't feel like Mr. President has been leading Indonesia for 10 years, leading us. Of course, the time is fast and thank God we can feel the maximum results,” said Erick at the launch of the Indonesian Islamic Financial Center (IIFC) at Menara Danareksa, Jakarta, Tuesday (17/9/2024).
Based on economic data, Erick continued, the acceleration of infrastructure development has increased significantly in recent years. Erick assessed this infrastructure development to be one of the heartlands of the national economic growth.
“Mr. President also reminded us in the beginning, how the sharia economy must continue to be built,” Erick said.
Erick said BUMN has also successfully merged the Sharia State Bank into PT Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI), which is now among the ten largest banks in Indonesia. Erick considers IIFC to be a continuation of SOE's commitment to setting up an integrated sharia economic ecosystem.
“We are trying to build also the platform, namely the region, so that everything related to the sharia economy can be integrated,” Erick said.
Erick said IIFC is located in two state-owned buildings, Danareksa Tower with an investment value of Rp 980 billion and BSI Tower of Rp 1.1 trillion. The presence of IIFC, Erick continued, is in line with the optimization of SOE assets around the National Monument (Monas).
“We have 20 assets in total, there are Pertamina buildings that are already empty, there are some buildings like Telkomsel that are not maximized as well, we see that if they are in line with the target, then many of these buildings including the Ministry of state-owned enterprises will move (to IKN),” Erick said.
Erick wants the state-owned assets around Monas to remain optimal and support Jakarta's plans going forward. Erick claimed to have spoken with acting Jakarta Governor Heru Budi to reorganize the area around Monas.
“So that we can maximize these 20 assets again and of course this will be part of Jakarta's future growth as a new city center,” Erick continued.
In addition, Erick also continued to push for the completion of SOE strategic programs in the rest of Jokowi's government. Erick said the Ministry of SOE successfully completed the majority of SOE strategic programs.
“We continue to push for acceleration in line with our target, from 88 (SOE strategic programs), God willing by the end of October could complete 84 or more than 90 percent. Thank you for the encouragement and transformation that Mr. President expects to the SOE ministry,” Erick said.
