REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Indonesia U-20 national team coach Indra Sjafri is grateful after leading his team to the 2025 U-20 Asian Cup in China on February 6-23 next year.
Indonesia qualified for the final round of the U-20 Asia Cup after winning Group F with seven points, following a 1-1 draw against Yemen U-20 in the last match of the qualifying round at Madya Senayan Stadium, Jakarta, Sunday (29/9/2024) night.
This is the third time Indra has delivered Indonesia U-20 to the Asian Cup after 2014 (still named U-19 Asia Cup in Myanmar) and 2018 edition (Asian Cup U-19) as hosts.
“I say thank God I qualified for the third time I have led the Asian Cup. The first was 2013 in Myanmar, the second we hosted in GBK, we are in the top 8, and this is the third,” Indra said at a post-graduate press conference.
The 61-year-old coach thanked the player, whom he called the team qualified for the Asian Cup for the third time.
He also thanked all those who helped his team qualify for the 2025 U-20 Asian Cup, from PSSI, the clubs, to the supporters.
“Also last for the clubs that give their players and the people who support the Indonesian national team,” Indra added.
The same phrase was also conveyed by the captain of the U-20 national team Dony Tri Pamungkas.
“Thank God, I am grateful and happy to also qualify for the Asian Cup, it is thanks to the hard work of all elements and in the future we will continue to work hard,” the Persija Jakarta player said.
