Citing the 2023 SGIE report, the demand for halal products is expected to reach 3.1 trillion US dollars, which equates to about Rp 48,600 trillion in 2027. This increase in demand is driven not only by the Muslim population but also consumer interest in quality halal products.
Furthermore, Bob explained that the value of the halal industry of the real sector that can be cultivated in Indonesia reaches 264.92 billion US dollars or about Rp 5,000 trillion. Of this total, about 78.9 percent or about 209.04 billion U.S. dollars equivalent to Rp 3.900 trillion, came from the halal food and beverage sector.
“This food and beverage sector, in addition to having enormous potential, also provides a broad multiplier effect for the economy. We hope that Indonesia will not only become a consumer, but also be able to become the world's center of halal food and beverage production,” he said.
To support the halal ecosystem, BSI has taken strategic steps, including ease of payment for halal certification and comprehensive solutions for halal industry players. BSI also collaborates with relevant institutions, such as UPPPH and BPJPH, to strengthen the national halal certification system.
Now, BSI has facilitated free halal certification for 1,000 MSMEs and recruited five of its construction businesses to participate in the Amazing Indonesia 2024 Festival in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, in order to penetrate the international market.
BSI also officially signed a memorandum of understanding with Amanda's CV (Amanda Brownies) for the optimization of digital services, as part of the ISEF 2024 series of events. The collaboration aims to expand access and services of sharia products in the halal food sector.
With a growing number of customers now reaching more than 21 million people, BSI demonstrates its commitment to strengthening the halal food industry through various strategic collaborations. These initiatives are expected to contribute significantly to economic growth and public welfare in Indonesia.
