Menurut pernyataan yang dikeluarkan pada 27 Desember oleh Badan Pengungsi PBB (UNHCR), lebih dari 200 orang dibawa ke pantai dengan aman di barat laut Indonesia selama beberapa hari terakhir. Dua kelompok, sekitar 58 pada 25 Desember, dan 174, termasuk mayoritas wanita dan anak-anak, pada 26 Desember, diselamatkan dan diturunkan oleh nelayan Indonesia dan pihak berwenang setempat, tambah UNHCR.
