REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, YOGYAKARTA -- The Governor of DIY, Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono X called to participate in the 101st Harlah Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) held in DIY. However, Sultan will only attend the series of Harlah activities held at Nahdlatul Ulama University (UNU) Yogyakarta, Wednesday (31/1/2024) where President Joko Widodo is also scheduled to attend the event.
This was stated by Sultan during a meeting held with Penguruan Besar Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) in Gedhong Wilis, DIY Governor's Office Complex, Yogyakarta City, Monday (29/1/2024). The 101st Harlah NU itself was held in DIY from January 28-31, 2024.
“I have an invitation tomorrow, Wednesday, to attend. There were two invitations, for the inauguration (of the building) and the Harlah, where Mr. President (RI) was also present,” Sultan said.
The General Chairman of PBNU, KH Yahya Cholil Staquf or commonly referred to as Gus Yahya said that his arrival with PBNU ranks to the DIY Governor's Office was aimed at sowan to the Sultan, as well as inviting directly the King of Yogyakarta in the 101st anniversary of Harlah NU.
Gus Yahya said that in this 101st Harlah NU there will also be the inauguration of the UNU building, and as a marker of the beginning of the construction of a new building on land that is a grant from the Sultan.
“We are certainly grateful for the land given by Ngarsa Dalem (Sultan) to UNU, and thank God that now at UNU the study activities have gone well. And we hope UNU Yogyakarta in the future will be a kind of pilot for Nahdlatul Ulama's network of colleges across Indonesia,” said Gus Yahya.
Gus Yahya said that PBNU as an organization will perform its functions and roles by imitating the Sultan amid the atmosphere of contesting the current 2024 elections. PBNU, he added, has until now always strived to preserve the unity and unity of the nation.
“PBNU from the beginning has stated that we are not involved in supporting support. We will try to play the role of imitating Ngarsa Dalem Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono X, keeping the community together,” said Gus Yahya.
