REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - US president Barack Obama has nominated Robert Blake as ambassador to Republic of Indonesia, according to a writen statement from USINDO. Blake, a career member of the Senior Foreign Service, class of career-minister, is assistant Secretary of State for South Asian Affairs.
Previously, Blake served as Ambassador to the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka and the Republic of Maldives from 2006 to 2009. Prior to that, Ambassador Blake served as the Deputy Chief of Mission at the US Embassy in New Delhi, India from 2003 to 2006. Apart from his domestic assignment, previously Blake had been appointed to serve in Tunisia and Algeria.The ambassador received a BA from Harvard College and an MA from John Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies.
Scot Marciel departed on July 18 after serving as ambassador to Indonesia. Deputy Chief of Mission at the US Embassy to Indonesia, Kristen Bauer, assumes duties as the Charge d’Affairs a.i. She will serve in this capacity as the acting Ambassador until the arrival of the new ambassador.
