REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – Rumour about Australian activists who want to cross from Cairns to Papua without permission gets serious response of Indonesian government.
Australian activist group called Freedom Flotilla was reportedly set sail in three ships from Cairns to Papua. Its crews consisted of a number of Aboriginal elders, Papuan refugees, filmmakers and other activists.
"We have deployed Army Navy and Air Force to anticipate their trip," Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs, Djoko Suyanto said last weekend.
Suyanto said he had confirmed to Australian Ambassador to Indonesia, Greg Moriaty according to this news. Australian Ambassador said that activists planned to sail from Cairns to Papua New Guinea (PNG), not to Indonesia. To Moriaty, Suyanto said there should be no country disrupted sovereignty of other countries. If their activity was associated violence and human rights, Indonesia also had same concern.
