REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The sound bilateral relations between Indonesia and Palestine will continue to strengthen and made more substantial, stated the Palestinian Ambassador to Indonesia Fariz Mehdawi in a meeting with Indonesian senior journalist Parni Hadi on Thursday.
Parni Hadi, who is also the founder of the Dompet Dhuafa charity organization, said that he met the Palestinian ambassador to discuss efforts to increase bilateral cooperation.
On the occasion, Ambassador Mehdawi praised Indonesia for its staunch support to Palestine in its struggle for independence.
They agreed that the bilateral relations can be further improved and made more substantial to benefit the people of both countries.
Dompet Dhuafa (DD) is a pioneer organization working to empower the poor through the management of Zakah (obligatory alms), Infaq (charity), Sadaqah (donation), Waqf (endowment), and other halal funds derived from individuals, institutions, and corporates.
Meanwhile, as part of Indonesia's strong commitment to help the Palestinian people work towards the establishment of an independent state, President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has pledged capacity building programs for 1000 Palestinians through various training courses within the five-year period (2008-2013).
So far, around 1.2 thousand Palestinians have joined the capacity building programs organized by Indonesia.
