"For elements of KRI, we use satellite communication system with backbone Ku Band. Then backbone C band with facilities of data communications and audio public switch telephone network (PSTN) is used for the outer islands," said Awaluddin, in Surabaya, Tuesday (8/12).
With the development of such system, coordination within the Navy could run smoothly by using a variety of data facilities. It was started from audio and video which were already installed in KRI Usman Harun and KRI Sultan Iskandar Muda.
Chief of Staff of TNI AL Admiral Ade Supandi appreciated contribution of PT Telkom for TNI. According to Ade, TNI AL could no longer rely on radio communications.
"A lot of Navy facilities that require reinforcement," Ade said.
