L'Oreal targets one billion new customers

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BEKASI - French cosmetic manufacturer, L'Oreal, opened the largest cosmetic factory in the world in Cikarang, West Java, on Wednesday, aiming to grab one billion new customers. Director of Asia Pacific L'Oreal, Jochen Zaumseil, said his company chose Indonesia because of its stable economic growth. While L'Oreal performance in Indonesia is quite impressing since it grows 30 percent in the last four years. 

The company plans to distribute 30 percent of the products made from the factory to domestic market. The remaining 70 percent will be distributed to Asia Pacific market.

Minister of Industry, MS Hidayat, said the factory that cost 1.2 trillion IDR to build, was expected to absorb 800,000 man powers. This Cikarang factory will manufacture 200 million units production per year.

"Government supports industrial development by giving some incentives, such as free import duty," Hidayat said.
