Warsinem finally goes home after 20 years in Saudi

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Warsinem binti Kasidi bin Sanropingi (33 years old), a Indonesian migrant worker from Derik Wetan, Banjar Negara regency in Central Java, has been working for more than 20 years in Saudi Arabia. Finally, she is allowed to return to Indonesia after the upcoming Ramadhan. 

Head of the National Agency for the Placement and Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers (BNP2TKI), Moh Jumhur Hidayat have told employer of Warsinem, Ummu Ali over the phone in Al Hassa, Saudi Arabia on Monday.

"She (Ummu Ali) promised to allow Warsinem to return to Indonesia. She also paid the salaries of Warsinem," Hidayat said on Tuesday.

Warsinem departed for Saudi Arabia in September 1993 after eight months of marriage with Sahirin, a young man from neighbor village. She received salary 600 riyal per month.

Warsinem are in good condition and healthy. She also said that she treated well by her employer, but but her employer never allowed her to go home. 

Warsinem said she did not even go to Indonesian embassy to extend her pasport, since her employer took care of it. During her work, she never allowed to go outside except to the market or visit relatives. But soon, she will enjoy fresh air in her homeland, Indonesia.
