REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, DENPASAR - Muslim majority Indonesia will build a statue of Goddess Saraswati made of concrete in Washington, DC in the United States. The central government has asked local government of Badung regency in Bali to tackle the project.
"The construction of Goddess Saraswati' statue is part of cultural cooperation between Indonesia and USA," Regent of Badung, Anak Agung Gde Agung on Monday.
With the approval of President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, the Indonesian Embassy in Washington DC issued a letter to the Regent of Badung to realize the construction. The statue has the height of 5.2 meters and will be built on the front yard of the Indonesian embassy in the heart of Washington, DC.
Government of Badung has establised a sculptor team coordinated by I Nyoman Sudarwa from studio of Seni Rupa Beton of Bali. The designer comes from studio of Jepun DKP Badung. Badung regent will bring the team to Washington DC as well as to meet Indonesian Ambassador to the US, Dino Patti Djalal.
