Govt provides CST training as HIV/AIDS cases in Papua reach 13,276

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BIAK - Chairman of National AIDS Commission to Papua, Costan Karma said data from Department of Health of Papua revealed that number of people living with HIV/AIDS in Papua had reached 13,276 cases. Currently government continued to conduct the care support treatment (CST) to strengthen its capacity in Teluk Cendrawasih.

"The training is expected to eliminate the transmission of HIV/AIDS in Papua," Karma said on Saturday.

The increasing cases of HIV/AIDS transmission in Papua raise concern from all elements of society. CST training for medical personnel in Teluk Cendrawasih involves manager of general hospital, physicians in health center, and also medical officer representative of Biak, Serui, Waropen, and Supiori district.
