Statistic: Indonesia's trade balance remains deficit

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Indonesia's trade balance in November 2013 showed a surplus of 776.8 million USD. However, total of trade balance from January to November 2013 remains deficit of 5.6 billion USD, contributed by oil and gas deficit (11.837 billion USD) compared to surplus of non-oil trade worth 3.367 billion USD.

Head of Statistics Indonesia (BPS), Suryamin explained that trade balance surplus in November showed a positive trends after October 2013. There was a surplus in October's trade balance worth 24.3 million USD.

"It will be good for national sustainable economy," Suryamin said.

BPS recorded that consumer price index or inflation rate in December 2013 reached 0.55 percent. So that national inflation in 2013 reached 8.38 percent. 

Food sector remained a major contributor to inflation at level of 0.20 percent. Food inflation reached 0.12 percent, while housing, water and electricity inflation reached 0.1 percent, followed by clothing or basic necessities (0.01 percent) and health sector (0.01 percent).
