REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Indonesia's non-tax state revenues from the forestry sector reached Rp3.35 trillion in 2013, accounting for 75 percent of the government's set target of Rp4.4 trillion, according to the Forestry Ministry.

"The lower-than-targeted non-tax state revenues were the result of a moratorium on the issuance of new permits for the conversion of primary forest and peat land areas," Forestry Minister Zulkifli Hasan stated while inducting echelon-II officials at the ministry on Friday.

He added that the ministry will strive to raise non-tax state revenues from the forestry sector by issuing permits to the operators of nature tourist parks.

The minister explained that the budget spending on the development of the forestry sector in 2013 reached 89.04 percent of the total budget allocations as compared to 87.46 percent a year earlier.

"The budget spending on the forestry sector is above the national average of 88.08 percent last year," he claimed.

The echelon-II officials inducted were Wiratno as director of social forestry development, Amir Wardhana as secretary of forestry human resources counseling and development board, Joko Prihatno as chief of forestry development control center, and Tamen Sitorus as head of the natural resources conservation center in East Nusa Tenggara province.
