REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, PASARWAJO - A Chinese investor would construct two smelters for nickel and manganese in Buton District, Southeast Sulawesi Province, head of Buton District Syamsu Umar Abdul Samiun reported here on Tuesday.

He stated that a Memorandum of Understanding for the construction had been signed by the two parties recently in Pasarwejo. According to him, the projects will accelerate and improve people's welfare in Buton, especially those living in the vicinity of the mining areas.

"The industries will generate multiple benefits to the economy," he said, adding that unemployment was expected to be reduced following the increasing people's income.
