REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Comission (KPK) spokesman Johan Budi hopes the inauguration of Jero Wecik as member of parliament to be postponed since he is named by KPK as a suspect in graft case.
"I think that he is not qualified to sit in the Parliament, especially because the oath will bet taken while he is named as a suspect," Budi said on Thursday.
Currently Wacik sits in ministerial post at Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources. He was named as the suspect on corruption case on Wednesday. Earlier he won a seat for the parliament for 2014-2019 term. Yet, Budi admitted that Wacik's legal status to sit in the parliament was at the hand of General Election Commission (KPU) and the House.
After the announcement, KPK will impose travel ban for Wacik. The anti graft body will also require audit reports from Indonesian Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (INTRAC) then investigate asset related to the corruption case.
