REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) as the ruling party needs to remind President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) of his failure to implement his pre-election campaign commitment of implementing the party's vision of Tri Sakti and Nawa Cita, a political observer said.

Tri Sakti and Nawa Cita calls for the creation of a sovereign and self reliant country with national identity, Said Muradi, head of the Center for Political and Security Studies (PSPK) of the state run Padjadjaran University in Bandung.

Muradi said relations between PDIP and Jokowi have soured over the past six months partly because of the failure of the Jokowi government to implement the political vision.

Tri Sakti or Nawa Cita is not even reflected in the Mid Term Development Plan (RPJMN ) of the National Development Planning Board (Bappenas), he said here on Wednesday.

"The characteristics of a government sovereign in politics, and self reliant in economy and with national identity no longer inspired the government of Jokowi-JK. Even the public have seen no implementation of the many pledges made by Jokowi ahead of the presidential election in 2014," he said.

PDIP should accommodate the public disappointment by reminding Jokowi as the cadre of the party to return to the original vision of Tri Sakti and Nawa Cita, he said.

The people elected Jokowi as their president because of his commitment to carry out the vision, he added.

"It is the duty of PDIP to remind Jokowi to implement Tri Sakti and Nawa Cita in his government," he said.

Tri Saktri and Nawa Cita, therefore, should be placed high in the agenda for discussion in the PDIP Congress, he said.
