REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Indonesian President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo called on the international community to listen to the voices and decisions of the Asian-African leaders summit during the 60th anniversary of the Asia Africa Conference (AAC).

"The voices in the Summit represent the voices of Asia and Africa. Thus, people of the world should listen to the voices and decisions we made during the summit," said President Jokowi in his closing remarks of Asian-African Leaders Summit at the Jakarta Convention Center here on Thursday (23/4).

President also mentioned that the Asian-African Leaders Summit during the AAC was one of the largest intergovernmental forums outside the framework of the United Nations, which was participated in by Asian and African countries as well as a number of observers.

During the summit, the three outcome documents of AAC, namely the Bandung Messages, the Reinvigorating New Asian African Strategic Partnership (NAASP) and the Declaration on Palestine, had been adopted by the Asian-African leaders.

President Jokowi emphasized that the Asian and African countries had agreed to reinvigorate the core ideas of the South-South movement, namely prosperity, solidarity and stability of the Asian African nations.

The leaders also agreed to establish a network of peacekeeping centers in the two regions, called Asia-Africa Center, to facilitate capacity building cooperation.

Indonesia also called for the Asian-African countries to build a fair multilateral trading system, which is pro-growth and inclusive, and will contribute to investment and job opportunities, as well as promote sustainable development.

"I will work hard with all of you to ensure the materialization of the New Asian-African Strategic Partnership (NAASP) and I will also strive, with your support, for the prosperity, equality and stability of all Asian and African countries," Jokowi remarked.

The Asian-African leaders also agreed to declare April 24 as the Asian-African Day, Bandung as the capital city of Asia-African solidarity, and the establishment of the Asian-African Center in Indonesia.

President Jokowi and Zimbabwe's President Robert Mugabe shared the co-chairmanship during the Asian-African Leaders Summit, which started on Wednesday and officially closed on Thursday at 6 p.m. local time.
