REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The Corruption Eradication Commission's (KPK's) selection committee will submit the names of eight best candidates, one of whom will be appointed as the anti-graft body's commissioner, to President Joko Widodo on Tuesday.
This was revealed by committee Chairperson Destry Damayanti.
"Insya Allah (God willing), none of the eight names that we are submitting figure on any police list of suspects," she told journalists on Monday.
Damayanti said the selection committee members had no problem deciding on the eight best candidates and that there was no intervention from any party during the selection process.
All candidates were examined independently, but in tracing their credibility and reputation, the selection committee members considered the inputs of various parties, including the police headquarters, attorneys, the KPK, the Indonesian Corruption Watch and the public, she said.
"There was no intervention from anybody, including the President and his cabinet members," she said without mentioning the names of candidates that will be submitted to the head of state.
