REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) deputy advisory chairman, Hidayat Nur Wahid said Gerindra Party chief patron Prabowo Subianto has not made any firm statement regarding his readiness to compete as presidential candidate. Therefore, Hidayat was not sure whether Prabowo would run in the presidential election 2019.

"Everything might change because Mr. Prabowo has not declared his presidential candidacy yet," said Hidayat on Monday (April 16).

Hidayat assessed Prabowo only said that he was ready to run in 2019 presidential election if there was a mandate for him. According to Hidayat, the chance of Prabowo retrive from candidacy was still opened until official registration for presidential candidates in next August.

"As long as he has not been registered, the possibility that he won't run in 2019 presidential election is still there," Hidayat added.

Earlier, Gerindra Party confirmed the party has given the mandate to its chief patron Prabowo Subianto to be president candidate in 2019 presidential election during National Coordination Meeting (Rakornas) on Wednesday (April 11). However, Prabowo decided the declaration to wait for the completion of regional election in Banyumas, East Java.

"With all my energy, soul, and, body, I'm ready to run in 2019 presidential election if Gerindra Party ordered me," said Prabowo in his opening speech during the Rakornas.
