REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BANDA ACEH -- The National Narcotics Agency (BNN) has foiled an attempt to smuggle 25.8 kilograms of crystal meth in the westernmost Indonesian province of Aceh. During the raid, BNN officers also arrested a 40-year old man, identified by his initial as S alias Pan, on charges of trafficking crystal meth.
"The suspect S was arrested by a joint team of BNN officers from Aceh and North Sumatra at Geruegok market in Bireuen district at 11.50 WIB (West Indonesia Standard Time)," Chief of BNN Office in Aceh Brigadier General Faisal Abdul Naser said on Thursday.
The BNN officers made the arrest after receiving a tip-off from the public. S is believed to belong to a Malaysia-Bireuen-North Aceh drug syndicate.
S was carrying eight packets of crystal meth weighing 8.6 kilograms when the BNN officers arrested him along with other suspect, identified by his initial as I, he remarked.
