REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, YOGYAKARTA - Government of Yogyakarta and a German Institution, German International Cooperation (GIZ) are ready to build green hotel in 2014. Director of Regional Project in GIZ, Ruth Erlbeck said there would be some hotels in Yogyakarta were selected to implement environmentally friendly technologies in sewage treatment technology, lighting and etc.
"We are happy that the government of Yogyakarta wants to develop green hotels which of course, we will actively contribute," Erlbeck said recently.
Yogyakarta is a popular tourist destination in Indonesia with many hotels built. Green hotel concept in Yogyakarta will become a good model for development of green hotels in Southeast Asian countries.
Director of Technical Project in GIZ, Trosse Ralph said development of green hotel would be able to save use of the ground water up to 40 percent. The hotel will be equipped with technology to recycle water that had been used as water for washing clothes. Beside that, it will be also equipped with technology to process biogas from waste from both kitchen and bathroom.
Head of Economic Development and Government Cooperation in Yogyakarta, Danang Subagjono said he would immediately coordinate with Indonesian Hotel and Restaurant Association in Yogyakarta related to the development of green hotel concept.
