REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Bandung city, the capital of West Java province, is believed to become more popular as a tourism destination after hosting the 60th commemoration of the Asian-African Conference (AAC) 2015, according to an official.
"The Asian-African Conference 2015 will surely have a long-term impact on Indonesia's tourism sector. I believe Bandung will now become more known and popular at the international level," Director for Domestic Tourism Promotion, the Ministry of Tourism, Tazbir said here Friday.
Tazbir believes that delegates attending the conference will enjoy Bandung and come back to the city as tourists.
"Those who did not attend the event must be curious about Merdeka Building, Savoy Homann Hotel, and Bandung's other unique features, such as a five-color gemstone, due to the massive media coverage of the event," he added.
Moreover, a number of AAC 2015 delegates visited one of the tourism spots, Kawah Putih located in Ciwidey, South Bandung district.
Kawah Putih is one of the ancient volcanoes in Bandung district and has a green crater lake with high iodine content.
Tourism is the third largest source of revenue for Bandung, Tazbir noted.
