REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The Ministry of Tourism are working hard to attract two million foreign tourists from China. Deputy of Foreign Marketing of Ministry of Tourism, I Gde Pitana, said the ministry has and is making efforts to be able to attract two million Chinese tourists until the end of this year.
"We made various efforts, such as sales mission, direct selling tour packages of Indonesia, promotion in China media advertising, and introduction tour to Indonesia," he said, Monday (24/8).
The ministry also increased the promotion budget specifically for the Chinese market.
"The budget for the promotion of the Asia-Pacific region is for China," he added.
According to Pitana, the potential market from China is still very open from the total population of China that reached 1.3 billion people. Last year, the number of Chinese tourists who visited Indonesia reached nearly 1 million people.
China has became the fourth largest number of foreign tourist in Indonesia, after Singapore, Malaysia, and Australia. This year, it is estimated that China will become the third largest contributor to the number of tourists.
