REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir said the government is serious about anticipating cases of monkeypox or mpox. Erick said this commitment was demonstrated in a limited meeting chaired by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi).
“This morning I attended a limited meeting at Istana Merdeka to discuss the anticipation and handling of cases of monkeypox or mpox,” Erick said via Instagram account, @erickthohir on Tuesday (27/8/2024).
Erick said Jokowi paid special attention to the case. Although the fatality rate of mpox in Indonesia is low and still under control, Erick said Jokowi asked to remain vigilant.
“One of them is by increasing surveillance of people, goods, means of transport, and the environment, at the entrance of the country, particularly those from the contracted state,” Erick said.
