Yogyakarta Special Region Again Reports New Covid-19 Cases Above 200

This is the second time in 2022 that the number of Covid-19 cases in DIY is above 200

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, YOGYAKARTA -- The DIY Covid-19 Handling Task Force has again reported the addition of positive cases of Covid-19 with a significant number. At least, 280 new cases were reported in DIY on February 6th.


The hundreds of new cases were contributed by all regencies/cities throughout DIY, of which the highest number was contributed by Sleman Regency, namely 153 cases. Bantul Regency contributed 47 cases, Yogyakarta City contributed 46 cases, Kulonprogo Regency contributed 24 cases, and Gunungkidul Regency contributed 10 cases.

Most of the new cases were a history of tracing close contacts of positive cases that had been previously reported, which was 170 cases. However, the other 110 new cases were self-examination history.

Head of the Public Relations and Protocol Section of the DIY Secretariat, Ditya Nanaryo Aji said that all the new cases reported today were the result of the examination of 9,814 people. With the continuous increase in positive cases reported every day in Yogyakarta, active cases also increase which currently has reached 1,602 cases.

Cumulatively, the total number of positive cases in DIY has been recorded at 158,739 cases. "The daily positive rate as of February 6 is 2.85 percent," said Ditya in a press statement, Sunday (6/2).

The Covid-19 recovery rate has also increased, although the increase is not as large as the addition of positive cases. On February 6, it was reported that 17 additional cases had recovered with a total of 151,858 cases in Yogyakarta.

Dozens of recovered cases were contributed by Sleman, Bantul and Yogyakarta City. Each of them reported as many as 12 cases recovered, three cases recovered and two cases recovered. "The current percentage of healing in DIY is 95.67 percent," said Ditya.

Furthermore, Covid-19 deaths were also reported to have increased by two cases. Bantul contributed this death case, bringing the total death toll in DIY to 5,279 cases.

"For the current percentage of cases of death at 3.33 percent," he explained.

Meanwhile, the critical bed occupancy rate (BOR) at the Covid-19 referral hospital is currently reported to be 8.51 percent. The total critical bed prepared is 141 beds, so the beds used are 12 beds. "Non critical BOR is 12.95 percent or 145 beds are used out of a total of 1,120 beds provided," said Ditya.

This is the second time in 2022 that the number of Covid-19 cases in DIY is above 200. On February 4, an additional 273 cases were reported.

Thus, the positive confirmed cases of Covid-19 in DIY continued to creep up in the past week. The increase was reported to be quite significant from the 25 cases reported on January 27 and has continued to rise above 100 cases per day since February 1, 2022, following the discovery of a cluster in a school in Sleman Regency.
