REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Muhammad Bagir in his book Practical Fiqih I explains the things that invalidate ablution. Among these, something comes out of 'both discharge doors' (urinary or fecal ducts), either substances such as urine, feces, blood, and so on, or fart.

Ablution becomes void due to loss of mind or consciousness, due to fainting and insanity, or due to drugging and intoxicated liquor. Furthermore, sleep can render ablutions void, except for sleeping in a steady sitting position so that it is impossible to fart.

Touching the pubis, front or back with the inner palm directly and without hindrance can invalidate the ablution. However, if it touches with the back of the palm, without the intention of causing irritation, then it does not ivalidate the ablution.

Then, ablution is void because it touches directly and unobstructed the skin of an adult man and an adult woman's skin when accompanied by a spiritual stimulus or indeed intended to cause stimulation. In this regard, scholars of the Shafi'i school argue that skin intercourse between adult males and adult females (including wives) nullifies ablution even without the stimulation of the shāhwat.

Meanwhile, some scholars of the Shafi'i school consider the combination of the skin between a man and a woman not a mahram invalidates the ablution of the toucher, but does not cancel the touched. However, Abu Hanifah had a different opinion. He understood the word intercourse as an allusion to sexual intercourse (intercourse). Therefore, the usual combination of male and female skin (for example, when jostling) does not invalidate the ablution.
