President Jokowi: Moving to IKN Is Done When Everything Is Ready
It is partly ready, some not yet. We will move if we are really ready.
REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SIDOARJO -- President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) said the process of moving from Jakarta to the capital of the archipelago (IKN) in East Kalimantan (Kaltim), should be done when everything is really ready. If he is not ready, he wants everything to be unforced.
“Everything has to be seen, all facilities are ready. Some are ready, some not yet. We move when we're really ready. We will continue to go there three to four days for the consolidation of the Head of the IKN Authority, because moving IKN big jobs is not as easy as imagined,” Jokowi said after inaugurating the Djuanda flyover in Sidoarjo Regency, East Java, on Friday (6/9/2024).
Jokowi said that to move to IKN it is necessary to ensure that houses, apartments, water flow and electricity are all available. “Because everything builds ecosystems and is expected for community interaction among residents living in IKN. All communities are alive, including economic, social, cultural,” Jokowi said.
Minister of State Apparatus Management and Bureaucratic Reform (Minister-RB) Abdullah Azwar Anas said that the transfer of state civil apparatus (ASN) to IKN is pending the completion of the digital infrastructure development. Azwar said that President Jokowi did not want to rush to decide ASN moved to IKN.
According to him, RI 1 is still waiting for the refinement of the digital infrastructure. “Because if ASN to IKN is not just about moving offices, but changing digital culture, so digital infrastructure is completed and so on,” Azwar Anas said during a speech at the Presidential Palace, Central Jakarta, Tuesday (3/9/2024).
Azwar explained that the flats for ASN had actually been ready to be inhabited. Therefore, the ASN will be moved to the IKN gradually. However, Azwar said, Jokowi gave instructions that ASN's move to the office is pending the readiness of the office and the digital infrastructure is ready for everything.
