Jokowi: MotoGP in Mandalika Will Continue Next Year
President Jokowi considers this year's MotoGP title a success.
REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, CENTRAL LOMBOK -- President Joko Widodo () said the Indonesian MotoGP event at Mandalika Circuit, Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) is certain to continue. This was stated by Jokowi after watching the final race of MotoGP Indonesia at Mandalika Circuit on Sunday.
“Next year's MotoGP continues,” Jokowi told reporters.
The president was present accompanied by SOE Minister Erick Tohir, Menpora Dito Aritedjo Setiadi and several other state officials. Upon arrival at the Mandalika Circuit, Jokowi toured, then headed to the starting location to take part in the ceremonial final race of MotoGP Indonesia 2024.
“This year's MotoGP is running successfully,” he said.
He said that the preparation for the Indonesian MotoGP event is quite good, as many improvements have been made and various facilities have been equipped.
“This event is mostly the involvement of local people such as Marshal who are NTB residents and others,” he said.
His side claimed that dorna sport greatly appreciated the continuity of MotoGP Indonesia, because it is very different from MotoGP events in other countries. Especially before the race, various local cultural attractions are presented to the riders and spectators who are present directly in Mandalika.
“Dorna is happy because Indonesia is always different, there is dancing. Obviously there are a lot of improvements and the less we will correct,” he said.
Earlier, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) traveled to West Nusa Tenggara Province (NTB) on Sunday, during a working visit to watch the Pertamina GP Indonesia 2024 MotoGP event.
The information was conveyed by Deputy for Protocol, Press, and Media of the Presidential Secretariat Yusuf Permana in his written statement received in Jakarta.
“President Jokowi is invited to watch live the MotoGP motor racing world championship Pertamina Grand Prix of (GP) Indonesia 2024,” he said.
The Indonesia-1 Presidential Aircraft carrying the Head of State and his entourage took off from the TNI AU Halim Perdanakusuma Base, Jakarta, at about 10:15pm.
Upon arrival at Zainuddin Abdul Madjid International Airport, Central Lombok Regency, the Head of State and his entourage went directly to Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit, Mandalika Special Economic Zone, Central Lombok Regency.
After that, Yusuf said, President Jokowi and his entourage will return to Zainuddin Abdul Madjid International Airport, Central Lombok Regency, to return to Jakarta.
