“We will focus on starting the construction of the Bali LRT Phase 1, which is from Ngurah Rai Airport to Central Park,” Menhub said in a statement received in Jakarta, Wednesday (10/1/2024).

He explained that the government invited South Korea to cooperate in building the first rail-based mass transportation project in Bali. The feasibility study was conducted by the Korean National Railways (KNR) with grant financing from Korea Exim Bank.

“The FS has already started in January 2023, and we are targeting the study to be completed by April 2024,” he said.

He hopes that, with KNR's good experience and reputation as a railway company in South Korea, it can support efforts to complete FS by the deadline. The work of this FS is not an easy one, as many aspects must be considered from technical, financial, and institutional.

“But we are confident that we can solve this FS well,” he said.

Regarding its financing, Budi Karya revealed that the government still continues to discuss various schemes, including using Official Development Assistance (ODA) Loan and Public Private Partnership (PPP). He requested the full support of the South Korean Government to Eximbank, KNR, and other relevant parties, so that Bali can enjoy better mass transportation.
